Reclaiming Our Cultures & Narratives: A Sephardi-Mizrahi Retreat
May 3 – May 5, 2024
Let us convene in song, prayer, harvest and stories from the four corners of the world where our ancestors’ paths have taken us and carved intricate lineages within. We will celebrate our crafts, our know-hows, the ways of the lands we have walked and set roots in for hundreds, sometimes thousands of years.
Guided by the teachings of Judeo-Arab singer Laura Elkeslassy and Rabbi Tsipora Gabai, we will welcome the Shabbat together in the tradition of our ancestors. We will rest, eat and sing piyutim together, collect the herbal secrets and magic of our grandmothers, map our stories of belonging, loss, exile and recovery.
Shabbat will end with a Havdalah and a Sephardic Songs jam around the fire.
